Duckworks Landing Light Kit

I really like the Duckworks landing/taxi light kit. It is a nice little kit with good instructions and quality parts. It was not too difficult to install although it seemed to take me longer than I would have thought. I don't know how anybody could install that thing in a completed wing though. I guess it could be done but I would at least want to get the wingtip off. I don't know how you could get that mounting plate in there unless you went in through one of the rib lightening holes.

I highly recommend doing it before you attach the leading edge to the spar. Van's manual doesn't tell you to do it until after the leading edge is mounted to the spar. Maybe I am missing something? I hope not but I'll let everybody know if I find a 'gotcha'.

Oh one more thing. There are some little blind rivets that come to install the platenuts where the mounting plate screws go. The instructions talk about being able to use some AN426 rivets here if you want to. Don't bother, use the blind rivets. They are easy and you are not going to get that lense mounting plate to sit flush against the rib anyway because of the lightening hole reinforcing rings.
